NC MOM Officials to Rotate Dental Clinic Site Outside of RV Area
HCC will not host Clinic in 2012
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College will be unable to host the North Carolina Missions of Mercy (NC MOM) free adult dental clinic this year. In 2010 and 2011, the College hosted the event. During that two-year time period, nearly 800 patients received more than $375,000 worth of free dental care.

Dr. Bill Blaylock, director of N.C. Missions of Mercy, said, "As much as we would like to return to HCC this year, the demands for dental care throughout our state are so great that we must move to new clinical sites from year to year. As needs permit, we hope to return to Weldon in the future." Blaylock urged those in need of care to look for NC MOM clinics in other areas. For more information on the NC MOM dental clinic schedule for 2012, visit http://www.ncdental.org/ncds/Schedule.asp?SnID=4929525.

Dr. Ervin V. Griffin, Sr., the president of HCC, said, "We are grateful that NC MOM has served our community so generously for the past two years. We understand that it is unusual for the organization to serve the same community for two years in a row, so we understand that it is only fair for NC MOM officials to serve other communities. NC MOM events held at HCC have drawn hundreds of people. We are informing community members of NC MOM’s plans now so that they can travel to other NC MOM sites if they so choose."

In an effort to meet the needs of the Roanoke Valley, the HCC Dental Hygiene Clinic will continue to offer dental cleanings in its facility. Fees for service are affordable, and appointments can be made by calling 252-536-7219. Visit http://www.halifaxcc.edu/StudntRe/DentHyg/Services&Fees.pdf for more information.
