new student orientation sessions for fall 2011
Halifax Community College (HCC) held new
student orientation sessions on Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
in The Centre. The sessions gave students an opportunity to
hear from college administration, faculty, staff and
returning students, and to explore the campus.
HCC President Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr.
welcomed students to campus. “I think you’ve made one of the
best decisions of your life by choosing to come to Halifax
Community College to continue your education,” said Griffin.
He described some challenges that
students might face and encouraged them to do their best,
“You are the only product that we have once you leave
here...Take it seriously, we’ll have some fun, I think
you’ll make some lifelong friendships, and the faculty and
staff will do all they can to help you be successful, but
you’ve got to do your part also.” Griffin emphasized that
there are opportunities for all HCC students.
students heard from Student Services & Enrollment
Management, Curriculum Programs, Security, Counseling,
Student Support Services, Student Government Association,
