HCC’s Dameron releases first CD

Halifax Community College Wellness Director/Instructor Scott Dameron has a musical side. In fact, he and fellow singer/songwriter Jay Ladd V have joined forces to create the music CD “Walker 904A,” which was just released in August.

Dameron plays guitar and provides vocals as well as writes many of the songs. He met Ladd while in college. They have worked on writing songs and other projects individually, but recorded “Walker 904A” together. Their work is described as contemporary folk or Americana and is acoustic-based, melody-driven music.

The CD is a collection of 13 songs written by Dameron and/or Ladd, which speak to everyday life. It was produced by award-winning engineer Chris Rosser in Asheville and features guest appearances by legendary Western North Carolina singer/songwriter David LaMotte and award-winning songwriter and singer Beth Wood.

The duo was named 2010 Regional Finalist in the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest for their song, “Can’t Tell You Goodbye.”

Catch Dameron and Ladd live at the Dream Acres Music Festival in Pleasant Hill at 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24. For more details, visit www.scottandjay.com, www.reverbnation.com/scottdameronandjayladd, or search for “Scott Dameron and Jay Ladd” on Facebook.
