The P.R.I.D.E. of Halifax (PReparing men for Intellectual, acaDemic, & Educational success) is a college success, leadership, and professional development program designed to enhance student satisfaction, professionalism, retention, graduation, and 4-year college transfer rates. P.R.I.D.E. fosters partnerships between students, learning coaches (success coaches trained in mentoring, counseling, developmental advising, instruction, career exploration, financial planning, etc.), faculty, staff, professional mentors, and the community.

P.R.I.D.E. serves 150 students from Halifax and western Northampton counties thorough intensive monitoring, tracking, and other wrap-around services. P.R.I.D.E. staff collects and evaluates academic, personal, and social adjustment information and designs individualized success plans for each participant.

Colleges throughout the country are in search of solutions to the declining enrollment, success, retention, and graduation rates of African American males. The P.R.I.D.E. of Halifax is a comprehensive student intake and development model that includes intensive advising, counseling, monitoring, tracking, assessment, and evaluation. Halifax Community College is committed to sharing findings with all publics that seek to enhance and promote African American male success and best practices models.
