U.S. Navy Fleet Forces Jazz Ensemble to perform at HCC, Dec. 15

The U.S. Navy Fleet Forces Jazz Ensemble will present a FREE concert at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15 at The Centre at Halifax Community College.

The Fleet Jazz Ensemble, led by Chief Musician Roy Brown, is an 18-member jazz ensemble performing many diverse styles within the jazz idiom. The band’s repertoire ranges from the timeless classics of big band swing by Count Basie and Duke Ellington to the exciting contemporary jazz literature of Bob Florence and Gordon Goodwin.

Although the majority of the ensemble’s performances are public concerts and jazz festivals, the Fleet Jazz Ensemble also performs for high school and college student clinics, master classes and military dances. Maintaining a reputation of consistent quality and versatility, the Fleet Jazz Ensemble endures as one of Virginia’s most respected jazz ensembles.

For concert information, contact Joanne Jolly at (252) 538-4320. The event is open to the public, but tickets are required for entry. Those interested can pick up tickets (five per family) in person at The Centre, the Daily Herald or the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce.
