HCC hosts 2015 Counselors' Luncheon
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) hosted the fall 2015 Counselors' Luncheon on campus. Guidance counselors from area high schools attended the event. Dr. Ervin V. Griffin, Sr. welcomed the area counselors and HCC faculty and staff. The keynote speaker for the luncheon was Rob Boyce, Northeastern North Carolina Career Pathways Facilitator. HCC representatives from administration, counseling, student services and the Foundation presented information on the following topics:
  • Career and College Promise
  • Counseling/Disability Services
  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
  • Multiple Measures
  • Scholarships
  • Center for Academic Excellence
  • Student Support Services
  • Testing
Antwan Garner and Tanner Miles, Roanoke Rapids natives and seniors at Roanoke Rapids High School (RRHS), gave reflections on their experience while enrolled in HCC’s Career & College Promise program. Garner and Miles are recommending the program to their peers. Garner encourages students to have a good relationship and close communication with their guidance counselors so they can take advantage of good opportunities like CCP.
