HCC alum headed to IBM
WELDON, N.C. – André Anglin graduated from Halifax Community College (HCC) in the summer of 2011 and walked with the class of 2012. He earned an Associate in Arts—College Transfer degree from the College.

While attending HCC, Anglin resided in Enfield. After graduation, he enrolled at East Carolina University (ECU) and has just graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science on May 8. He also marched at the College of Engineering and Technology’s ceremony on May 9.

When asked how well HCC prepared him for coursework at ECU, Anglin replied that he was well prepared. “The education was on par with ECU…What I learned here helped me excel there. In certain classes, I was usually ahead or right with the class,” he said.

Before he graduated from ECU, Anglin landed a job with IBM in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park. He will be employed as a software engineer for the automation team there.

Now, he is starting to explore his options in various master’s degree programs.

“Anything is possible,” explained Anglin who started at HCC in mostly developmental courses.

He noted, “The education for the developmental courses gave me a good foundation for the classes that I wanted to take.” He added that everyone should take advantage of HCC’s labs and resources, and communicate with their instructors.
