HCC hosts Advanced Manufacturing and STEM Careers Awareness Week Open House

WELDON, N.C. – The Halifax Community College (HCC) School of Vocational and Industrial Technology hosted a North Carolina Advanced Manufacturing and STEM Careers Awareness Week Open House on April 14 at The Centre at HCC. The event was free and open to the public.

Participants had a chance to meet with business and industry representatives, participate in hands-on demonstrations, learn about educational opportunities and plan their career pathway.

Advanced manufacturing and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers are modern, sophisticated and use cutting-edge technology to create products and services in fields such as aviation, communication, biotechnology and health care.

The event was part of North Carolina Manufacturing Awareness Week, April 12-18, which is an effort by the state’s community colleges and other organizations working together to raise awareness about manufacturing in North Carolina and to create interest in the career possibilities within this sector.
