Webb is HCC Career & College Promise Success Story
WELDON, N.C. – Ja’Muan Webb, a native of Roanoke Rapids, is a rising junior at Johnson & Wales University (JWU) – Charlotte, where he maintains a 4.0 grade point average. He is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Management with an Entrepreneurship concentration.

A 2013 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School, Webb served as the senior class president. During his senior year, he completed dual enrollment courses through Halifax Community College’s (HCC) Career & College Promise Program for college credit. Those credits have now allowed him to be on track to graduate a year early.

Webb was also awarded the Ethel W. Crawley Memorial Scholarship, which provided a full-ride academic scholarship to college. In addition, Webb was selected from more than 52,000 applicants as a finalist for the Gates Millennium Scholarship.

Since being a student at JWU, Webb has been involved with numerous organizations including the Collegiate Ambassador Team (member), Minorities About Business (vice president), The National Society of Leadership & Success (executive board—Sigma Alpha Pi), and Collegiate DECA (executive vice president—Delta Epsilon Chi).

He also serves on the board of directors for A Better Chance/A Better Community (a nonprofit organization) and is a community outreach trainer for the Halifax Leadership Equity Project. This past fall, Webb was recognized as a finalist for the Roanoke Valley Community Champion Award and honored at JWU as the 2014 PrincewaterhouseCoopers Distinguished Visiting Professor Scholarship recipient.

Webb plans to earn an MBA, become a licensed mortician and own his own funeral home.

He is a member of First Baptist Church Weldon. Appreciating the challenge of overcoming difficulties, Webb’s favorite sayings are, “Put God first and anything is possible,” which derives from Matthew 6:33, and “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” as well as a quote from one of his idols, Tyler Perry, “It doesn't matter if a million people tell you what you can't do, or if ten million tell you no. If you get one yes from God that's all you need.”

Webb’s greatest passions are traveling, spending time with family and friends, networking and photography. He is the owner of God’s Gifted Photography & Productions. Above all, Webb gives thanks to the Lord for His grand gifts.

Webb is the son of Yolanda White and Jerry Webb. His grandparents are Glenda and William White.
