Elected officials visit HCC campus, Dec. 18
WELDON, N.C. – The Halifax Community College (HCC) Legislative Affairs Committee hosted elected officials on campus, Dec. 18. North Carolina Senator Angela Bryant and North Carolina Representative Michael Wray talked with faculty and staff about a variety of topics. A question and answer session followed their presentations. Issues included the following:
  • State budget
  • Voting districts (redistricting)
  • Community college funding
  • Regional legislative meetings
  • Future raises and advocacy
  • Transfer agreements between community colleges and four-year institutions
  • Performance measures for community colleges
  • Economic development
  • Guns on college campuses
  • Contract renewals
