WELDON, N.C. – Local inventor Brian Hux is $10,000 richer thanks to his patent-pending product, the Tailgate Buddy. Hux was the winner of the Shark Tank 2013 by SpringBoardNC competition, which was held on Saturday, Nov. 16 in the Dunn Center at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount. Hux's invention was one of three selected out of 31 inventions to compete for the prize in the final round of competition.

Tailgate Buddy has been in the works for a long time. Hux has been collaborating with friends since its inception to improve the product and make necessary changes. One of those friends is Halifax Community College (HCC) Small Business Center (SBC) Director Mark Stewart. Stewart submitted the application for the contest on Hux's behalf in addition to creating a presentation and brochure about the Tailgate Buddy.

Hux was presented with a check for $10,000 and is thankful for the Roanoke Valley's support. To read more about Hux's story, visit www.rrdailyherald.com. For more information about HCC’s Small Business Center, visit www.halifaxcc.edu.
