Fall 2013 Presidential Student Forums held at HCC
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) hosted two Presidential Student Forums for the fall 2013 semester on Sept. 10. Pizza was served and all students were encouraged to attend.

During the sessions, students had the opportunity to share ideas and to ask questions of administrators, faculty and staff. Information was shared about financial literacy workshops, Student Support Services, PRIDE male mentoring and Women of Excellence female mentoring programs, the upcoming mini-semester, Fall Fest and the other events. Questions included those involving Wi-Fi on campus, program budgets and financial aid refunds.

Nine HCC faculty and staff were recognized for being awarded the 2013 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Awards. They included: Director of the Child Care Center Vicki Collier, Department Head/Biology Instructor Dr. Julie Galvin, English Instructor Walter Goode, Welding Instructor Carl Harris, Dean of Students and Enrollment Management Dr. Barbara Bradley Hasty, Director of Student Financial Aid Tara Keeter, Biology Instructor Sarah Nesbit, Math Instructor/Division Chair of the School of Arts and Sciences Calvin Stansbury and Director of Literacy Education Tamba Thompson.
