North Carolina Community College System representatives hold SuccessNC

Listening Tour on campus

Halifax Community College (HCC) hosted representatives from the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) as they conducted a SuccessNC Listening Tour on campus, June 4. The tour’s guiding goals are to increase student access, ensure program excellence, and improve student success.

The purpose of the tour was to inform and educate about SuccessNC strategic planning goals/timeline; engage community college family in identifying best practices in three SuccessNC areas (increasing student access, enhancing program quality, improving student success) and in outlining changes needed to truly reach success; develop a web-based resource center for best practices; understand the “what/why/how could policy/barrier change affect SuccessNC” of potential obstacles; ultimately, develop policy/procedure recommendations and new metrics for measuring success as well as accountability standards; and, provide the basis for each college to incorporate SuccessNC planning/metrics into their strategic and/or annual plan or planning process.

Several HCC department representatives had the opportunity to present information during the tour including those from Cosmetology, Allied Health, Roanoke Valley Early College, 12 in 6 JobsNow, Student Services, Learning Resources Center, Continuing Education, PRIDE, and Administrative Services.

North Carolina Community College System Executive Vice President & Chief of Staff Kennon Briggs addressed faculty, staff and guests at Halifax Community College, June 4, during the SuccessNC Listening Tour.
