HCC hosts International Day, Food Tasting for third year


WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) held its third annual International Day & Food Tasting Feb. 10 as part of Black History Month activities. Foods included international dishes like ugali and supu ya kuku from Kenya, scones from Scotland, mondongo from Puerto Rico, and jerk chicken from Jamaica along with a variety of Southern foods, navy beans, shrimp friend rice, lasagna, chicken piccata, spaghetti, crab balls, cornbread, banana pudding and more.  


Food contributors included: B.T. Brown, Kenneth Jones, Modessa Boone, Sithah Campbell, Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr., Joy Clippard, Doris Garner, Martha Cooper, Clem's Cafe, Lagolia Price, HCC Student Support Services, Dorothy Hughes, Gwen Young, Taste of Paradise, Ruby Ward, CiCi’s Pizza, Theresa Raymond, Cindy Collins, Melvin Pender, Charles “Chase” Davis, Dr. Erica Holmes, Bessie Reed-Moore, Jennifer Jones, Haydee Vives, Mary Smith, Dana Scott, Linda Smith, Lelia Webb, Kenneth Harris and Ivey Copeland. Faculty, staff, community volunteers and students from P.R.I.D.E., SGA, and Women of Excellence participated.
