HCC hosts International Day, Food Tasting

Halifax Community College held an International Day & Food Tasting Feb. 17 as part of Black History Month activities. Foods included international dishes like ugali and chapatti from Kenya, basmati pulao from India, Scottish biscuits and Irish potato cakes, modongo from Puerto Rico, Mediterranean cous cous from Greece and lasagna from Italy along with Southern soul food snacks like souse, pigs feet and hoop cheese, potato salad, barbeque, chocolate cake, apple and coconut pies, hushpuppies, collards and more.  

Food contributors included: Kim Edwards, Dr. Pocahontas Jones, B.T. Brown, Gussie Silver (A Catered Affair), Monica Simmons, Kenneth Jones, Modessa Boone, Sithah Campbell, Dr. Julie Parker Dilday, Dr. Ervin V. Griffin, Sr.,  HCC Bookstore, Martha Cooper, Abrams (Tarboro), Clem's Grand Ballroom, Sherry Agee, Lagolia Price, CJ Dickens, HCC Student Support Services, Dorothy Hughes and Gwen Young. Beverages were provided by McPherson Beverage.
